Therma-Tru Basic Fixed Replacement Sill Cap 3'0

This sill cap was exactly the same as my existing one (that had cracked because the bottom of vertical side was not fully supported). I had to trim maybe 1-/2 off the new sill cap to make it fit, but after that it snapped right in place (but the original was a bear to remove...). I also placed additional support under the bottom of the vinyl's vertical face to hopefully prevent the new one from cracking.

The sill cap replacement was difficult to find... even my distributor gave up. I found the cap for a Thermotru Exterior door, and it was exactly what I needed. I was surprised at the price of the piece of plastic.

Perfect fit for my older Therma-Tru door... Very hard to find as the sill was probably over 20 years old. But DIY had the part as per the Therma-Tru catalogue number. So I knew it would be the right part.

My old sill cap broke so I found this one which is exactly what I had prior for my Therma-Tru door. I cut it to size (with a coping saw) and ready to install. I did end up having a door repair person install it as it was very difficult to fit into the groove and then get it to sit down to be attached to the door. It was originally installed with 4 crown staples holding it down, but I used screws instead and that seems fine as well. Now the door seals and opens/closes properly. It works!
